Retro Bettie
Yes. That is the lovely Bettie Page. As far as women go she is my ideal. She’s curvy with a playful sexuality.
I decided I wanted a new splash image for my website. So I started toying with Bettie imagery. I found a photo of her sitting on a 50’s style table. A table I would likely own. So I reproduced the basics of the image in a digital illustration format. I chose a muted, retro color palette.
This is actually the second version. (She started out with red hair and a pink background.) My friend Dre told me that the first attempt looked a bit “mannish” (man-like).
After a second look she was right. I fixed the hair by adding more body. I also switched it to the classic black. I refined the makeup too. The background was turned blue and I dropped in some wallpaper.
I later scrapped the splash image idea altogether. While not quite perfect I think she’s still worth sharing.
